About Lynn Chase Wildlife Foundation
The Lynn Chase Wildlife Foundation (LCWF)was founded by wildlife artist Lynn Chase in 1988. More than 40 grants have been earmarked to support a wide variety of projects intended to preserve and protect endangered species around the world and to maintain their fragile ecosystems. Some recent examples are:
- LCWF funded an aerial surveillance and tracking program using new technology called Global Positioning to help save manatees and sea turtles in the Gulf of Mexico and Belize. In order to identify the resting spots for thousands of West Coast migratory shore birds en route to their Alaskan breeding grounds, LCWF provided 27 one-gram radio transmitters to be placed on the Western Sandpiper. Five coastal migratory stopovers were protected.
- LCWF for the last 10 years has been an avid supporter of the reintroduction of the gray wolf that had been eradicated by Federal mandate in the lower 48 states in the 1930's. Splendid work has been done in wolf repopulation in Yellowstone National Park and most recently in the Olympic Peninsula ecosystem in Alaska.
- LCWF was pleased to donate funds to the Hornocker Wildlife Institute which specializes in the preservation of wild carnivores-cougars, bobcats, bears, tigers and the very endangered Asian Amur Leopard. LCWF provided 10 radio collars to help in ascertaining that there was a population of up to 100 Amur Leopards.
LCWF is a non-profit organization with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3). All contributions are fully deductible.
